Privacy policy
Short version: your music stays on your device, we don’t track you, and there’s nothing to sign up for.
Last updated: October 30, 2026. This policy covers playpianolive.com and the installable Play Piano Live app (together, “the site”), operated by Groove Forte (“we”).
Your audio and music
When you transcribe a file or a microphone recording, the audio is decoded and analysed inside your browser, on your device. It is not uploaded to us or anyone else. The same is true of recordings you make on the online piano and of MIDI files you open. When you close the page, that audio is gone unless you downloaded a file yourself.
The microphone is only used after you press Record from microphone and your browser asks for permission. MIDI access is only requested when you press MIDI. You can withdraw either permission in your browser settings at any time.
Information we collect
- No accounts. We don’t ask for your name, email or any profile.
- No analytics or ad trackers. The site doesn’t use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or fingerprinting.
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare acts as our processor; see the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your message and address and use them only to reply.
Storage on your device
To make the app fast and work offline, your browser stores the site’s files, the piano samples and the transcription model in its cache (via a service worker). A song you send from the piano or transcriber to Practice is kept briefly in your browser’s session storage. None of this is sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it. See the cookie notice for details.
YouTube videos
Pages that feature GrooveForte videos show a preview image loaded from YouTube’s image server (i.ytimg.com), which means Google receives your IP address and browser details for that image. The video player itself only loads when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once it plays, Google’s privacy policy applies. Links to our channel open YouTube in a new tab.
Children
The site is suitable for learners of all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Because we don’t hold personal data about visitors beyond short-lived hosting logs and any emails you send us, there is usually nothing to access, correct or delete. If you are in the EU, UK, California or another region with privacy rights and want to ask about your data, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date above.
